Ken Jernstedt has devoted all 30 plus years of his career to representing employers in labor and employment law matters. His practice has focused on collective bargaining, labor contract administration, personnel administration, union organizing campaigns, and National Labor Relations Board proceedings, as well as less frequent labor and employment litigation. His practice has included the negotiation of more than 700 labor contracts.
He began his career with the firm that is now Lane Powell Spears and Lubersky where he became a partner in 1975. Since 1980, he has been a shareholder of our firm.
Ken has been selected for listing in all editions as a management labor lawyer in The Best Lawyers in America, where listing is based on peer review. He is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the Oregon State Bar.
Beyond his professional life, Ken has been involved in community activities such as: Delegation Leader, Governor's Task Force to Taiwan Regarding High Seas Driftnet Fishery; past chair and member of the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission; founding board member and past president of Lake Oswego Youth Traveling Basketball Association; coach in youth soccer (14 seasons) and basketball (11 seasons); board member of Western Savings and Loan; board member of Visiting Nurses Association; past board member and president of Stanford Club of Portland; past member of Portland Metropolitan Boundary Commission
Ken grew up in Hood River, Oregon, and then migrated to Stanford University for undergraduate work (History AB, 1966) and to the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) for law school (JD, 1969). Since 1970, he has practiced labor and employment law in Portland.
