The Portland Business Journal is Portland’s premier business publication providing comprehensive coverage of the local economic landscape, news, industry analysis, business tools, and market leads. The Women of Influence Award recognizes the region’s most influential businesswomen and awards those who are "established business leaders with a strong record of innovation in [their] field, outstanding performance in [their] business and/or a clear track record of meaningful community involvement."
Liani is an employment law attorney, a shareholder, and Bullard Law’s President with oversight of all management, administrative, and financial aspects of the firm. In addition to her work at Bullard Law, she also served as President of the Oregon State Bar, where she became the first woman of color and first Asian American in that position. During her term, Liani worked to improve and expand diversity and inclusion in the Oregon legal community. Liani’s year as Oregon State Bar’s President is just the most recent example of her community service throughout her career. Liani has also served as the Co-Chair of the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association, and as the President of the Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Oregon affiliate of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
Throughout her career, Liani has been recognized by many organizations for her professional achievements and community contributions. Most recently, the Oregon League of Minority Voters awarded Liani with a “2019 Civil Rights Champion Award” for promoting minority groups and civil rights activism within the legal community. In 2015 she received the Oregon State Bar’s “President’s Diversity & Inclusion Award” for her significant contributions to the goal of increasing minority representation in the legal profession in Oregon through creative employment efforts, innovative recruitment and retention programs, advocacy, and other significant efforts. And in 2014, she was presented with the Inaugural “Liani J. Reeves Inspiration Award” by Willamette College of Law Asian Pacific American Law Students Association for inspiration and mentorship.
As a member of Bullard Law’s employment team, Liani advises and trains public, private, and non-profit employers on all aspects of employment law, including compliance with state and federal disability, medical leave, wage and hour, and discrimination and retaliation Law. As an experienced trial lawyer, she represents employers in all stages of litigation, from responding to administrative information requests and complaints to handling litigation in state and federal courts.
