BEND, OREGON – The Oregon Association Chiefs of Police honored Akin Blitz with the Karlyn Campbell Award at the annual conference on April 13, 2013.   The Karlyn Campbell award recognizes recipients who exemplify the same compassionate mentoring, guidance and encouragement of Oregon’s law enforcement professionals that Karlyn Campbell demonstrated throughout her career.

Akin received the Award in recognition of his decades of distinguished service as legal advisor to the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police and as an effective advocate for police agencies and their leadership teams.  Akin’s tireless commitment to the police profession and to police leaders combined with the experience and skill he brings to bear on a wide range of complicated legal challenges is notable.  Because of Akin, police executives are better leaders and police agencies are more professional due to  his mentorship and passion for policing.
